Brentford have officially completed the signing of Mali international Mamadou Sangare, securing the 24-year-old midfielder in a club-record deal. The player has committed to a five-year contract with the Premier League side, which also includes an option for an additional year.
Sangare arrives at the club following a successful tenure with Lens, where he made 29 appearances in the French top tier last season. During his time in France, he played a vital role in helping the team finish second in Ligue 1 and secure the Coupe de France title. He originally joined Lens from Rapid Vienna last year.
The move is seen as a strategic replacement for Jordan Henderson, the England international who appears set to depart for Chelsea. Club officials highlighted Sangare’s consistent performance levels at Lens and his development through recent loan spells as key factors in the acquisition. Furthermore, his growing influence as a core player for Mali, for whom he has earned 16 caps, was cited as a major asset for the team's future campaign.
