US Senator Bernie Sanders has publicly denounced Israel's military campaign in Gaza, asserting that the country “did not have the right to commit genocide.” Speaking at an event in Minnesota on Monday, Sanders argued that the administration led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should no longer receive “one nickel more” from US taxpayers.
During his address, the senator criticized the scope of the conflict, stating that the Netanyahu government lacked the right to wage an “all-out war against the Palestinian people.” Sanders cited the staggering toll of the conflict, noting that more than 73,000 Palestinians—primarily women, children, and the elderly—have been killed, while 173,000 others have sustained injuries.
Highlighting the widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure, Sanders stated that Israel had no justification for destroying schools, healthcare facilities, water systems, wastewater plants, and the electric grid. He further pointed out that 92 percent of housing units in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed during the ongoing offensive.
The humanitarian situation remains dire for the territory’s 2.4 million residents, with the region left in ruins since the war began in October 2023. Despite a ceasefire that came into effect on October 10, 2025, data from the Health Ministry indicates that the Israeli military has continued daily attacks, resulting in an additional 1,168 deaths and 3,798 injuries.
