Erin Piacenti, a 32-year-old vice president at Bank of America, has been identified as the woman fatally stabbed during an attack in New York City's Times Square on August 31. The financial institution confirmed the death of its employee on September 1, expressing deep shock and sorrow over the loss of a valued colleague and offering condolences to her family and loved ones.
According to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, the incident occurred when a suspect identified as Pamela Cisneros allegedly brandished two knives and attacked Piacenti along with a 68-year-old man. Both victims sustained stab wounds to the abdomen during the confrontation. Piacenti was rushed to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The male victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.
Police have said the attacks appeared random and unprovoked, and that officers fired their pistols after Tasers failed to stop the woman from advancing toward them with knives. During an evening news conference, Mayor Zohran Mamdani joined Commissioner Tisch in expressing condolences to the victims' families, noting that their lives had been shattered by the event and promising continued support in the coming days and weeks.
