Aston Villa has reportedly approached Juventus with an offer to sign striker Jonathan David on a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy, according to Italian media.
The Premier League club is said to be eager to secure the services of the Canadian international, marking a significant step up from previous reports suggesting only a loan with an option to purchase was being considered.
David, who joined Juventus as a free agent 12 months ago, has found it challenging to attract buyers despite the substantial commissions and bonuses involved in his transfer. His performance for Juventus saw him score eight goals and provide five assists in 46 appearances, with only 27 starts. His role diminished as the season progressed, particularly after Dusan Vlahovic's return from injury.
The 26-year-old forward has played in Europe since 2018, having previously represented KAA Gent and Lille before his move to the Bianconeri.
There had already been many suggestions the CANMNT forward was on the market just 12 months after he joined as a free agent, although the €12m in various commissions and bonuses made him far from free.
Finding a buyer has proved to be difficult, but Tuttomercatoweb and Radio Sportiva reporter Marco Conterio suggests that Aston Villa are ready to provide a solution.
