Following the achievement of Premier League glory last season, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed his desire to push his club to even greater heights. As the Gunners prepare to face Enzo Maresca’s Manchester City in the Community Shield, the 44-year-old manager is looking to secure the first piece of silverware of the new campaign.
Arteta, who is now the longest-serving manager in the Premier League following a summer that saw nine clubs change leadership and three new teams enter the division, credited his side's consistency as the foundation of their recent success. However, he remains focused on future growth. "Sustain that consistency, and you call it stability I think, but I don’t want to be stable, I want to be better and more ambitious, that’s what we want," Arteta stated.
The Spaniard noted that every club in the league possesses different strengths, whether through their financial resources, squad depth, or historical success over the past decade. He believes that the high caliber of managers across the league will serve to challenge his team and force them to improve further.
"With a few managers as well and some new ones coming to the league that are exceptional as well. So, we know. I think this league is full of incredible managers, so challenging every week to prepare games against them," Arteta added. He remains convinced that he must continuously elevate the quality of his squad to ensure Arsenal remains at the very pinnacle of English football.
