Apple Fails to Overturn EU Gatekeeper Status Ruling

Apple has lost a legal challenge aimed at overturning its designation as a “gatekeeper” by the European Union. The tech giant had initiated the action in a bid to reverse the classification, which carries significant regulatory requirements.

Under the current EU rules, this gatekeeper status mandates that Apple must open up its App Store and iPhone operating system to allow for greater competition from rival applications and services. The failure of this legal challenge means the company remains subject to these requirements to foster a more competitive digital market.
