Paris Saint-Germain has submitted a €50m bid to Barcelona for forward Ferran Torres. Whilst the Parisian club are reportedly very close to reaching a verbal agreement with the Spanish forward, talks with the Blaugrana are said to be in their final stages. A successful outcome therefore appears to be drawing nearer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, who reports that PSG is "closing in" on the deal.
Torres, who was the sole goalscorer in the last World Cup final, is expected to head to France shortly. The move would see him reunited with Luis Enrique, under whom he played for the Spanish national team. Torres has been a striker for FC Barcelona for the past four years, having joined the club from Manchester City. During his time in Catalonia, he has made over 200 appearances and scored 65 goals in all competitions. Although he made 49 appearances last season, his desire to play a more prominent role within an elite squad is said to have precipitated his decision to leave.
