London Spirit concluded their 2026 Men's Hundred campaign with a victory, defeating Birmingham Phoenix in a clash between the bottom two sides. The win, which came with 18 balls to spare, ensured that Spirit avoided the wooden spoon, while Phoenix finished at the bottom of the table with only one win from seven matches.
Birmingham Phoenix batted first and posted 162 for 4. Although Mitchell Owen, Joe Weatherley, and Laurie Evans were dismissed for single-figure scores by spinners James Coles and Mason Crane, a strong 92-run partnership off 47 balls between Joe Clarke and Sean Dickson shifted the momentum. Clarke scored 73 off 42 balls, featuring five sixes and four fours, before being caught by Liam Livingstone off Henry Crocombe. Dickson remained unbeaten on 51 off 28 balls, and a late surge from Donovan Ferreira helped push the total past 160.
In response, London Spirit chased down the target with ease. Jonny Bairstow provided a quick start before being dismissed by Saqib Mahmood. Liam Livingstone and Luan-dre Pretorius then steadied the innings, and following the departure of Pretorius for 16, Livingstone and Dewald Brevis combined for a match-winning 103-run stand in just 47 balls. Livingstone was particularly aggressive, reaching his half-century in 21 balls and hitting a 104-metre six. He was eventually out for 66 off 30 balls, but by that point, Spirit needed only 13 runs from 30 balls.
Brevis, who remained unbeaten on 55 off 31 balls, finished the match by hitting two consecutive fours off Rehan Ahmed. The pair navigated the threat of Usman Tariq effectively, who conceded only 13 runs from his 20 balls. The seven-wicket victory marked Spirit's second win of the season.
