Rafael Leao has confirmed he is scheduled to report for pre-season training at Milanello on July 29, adhering to his current contract. However, the 27-year-old Portugal international has openly acknowledged that his future with the Rossoneri is currently unresolved, revealing he has held discussions with the club regarding a potential departure this summer.
Speaking on the Brazilian podcast Podpah while currently in Brazil for promotional events surrounding his clothing brand, Leao addressed the speculation that has followed him after seven seasons at the San Siro. Following a challenging Serie A campaign where Milan failed to secure Champions League qualification, there is a mutual sense that a change might be beneficial. As the club’s highest earner, Leao noted that he has already spoken with the organization about the prospect of seeking a new experience.
Despite the uncertainty, Leao maintained a professional stance regarding his immediate obligations. He stated that he does not know exactly what will happen, but emphasized that as long as he is a Milan player, he will continue to give his best and respect the club that has supported him throughout his tenure. While acknowledging that he has personal ambitions to consider and intends to study his available options, he reiterated that for the time being, he remains committed to his role as a Milan player.
Leao has spent much of the summer with the Portugal national team, including his recent participation in the 2026 World Cup in North America, and is currently finishing his holiday period before returning to Italy.
