Napoli is maintaining a firm stance regarding their pursuit of Boca Juniors winger Exequiel Zeballos. Giovanni Manna, the Partenopei’s director of sport, clarified in a recent press conference that the club is only willing to finalize a deal if the financial terms are correct. Should those conditions not be met, Manna indicated that the Italian side is prepared to wait until the player becomes a free agent in January 2027.
It is widely understood that the player has already reached an agreement on personal terms with Napoli. This development is cited as a primary reason for the winger’s refusal to sign a contract extension with his current club, Boca Juniors. Addressing the ongoing situation, Manna acknowledged that the club has been engaged in negotiations for six to eight months. He noted that while Zeballos is a player of interest, his career progression has previously been hindered by injury issues.
Manna addressed the heightened media focus on the potential transfer, suggesting that the attention stems from the player's affiliation with Boca Juniors and his expiring contract status. Meanwhile, Boca Juniors president Juan Roman Riquelme offered a brief response to the rumors within the last 24 hours. Riquelme stated that Zeballos remains under contract with the Argentine club until December and expressed uncertainty regarding a potential move to Napoli, emphasizing that he has no direct involvement with the Italian organization.
