For more than a decade, Chick-fil-A has maintained a firm grip on the top spot of the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI). However, the latest data shows a shift in the fast-food landscape, with Jersey Mike’s moving ahead to claim the lead in the quick-service category. This change marks the end of Chick-fil-A’s impressive 11-year reign at the No. 1 position.
Despite losing the top ranking, Chick-fil-A did not experience a decline in its performance. According to the ACSI, the chain maintained a score of 83, identical to its rating in the previous survey. The change in the rankings is instead attributed to Jersey Mike’s, which improved its performance just enough to edge past the chicken chain. Analysts note that Jersey Mike’s success is driven by strong marks in food freshness, variety, and perceived value—factors that are becoming increasingly important to diners as they weigh price against quality.
The broader fast-food industry is currently facing a slight decline in overall customer satisfaction, suggesting that patrons are becoming more sensitive to costs and the total dining experience. Despite this, Chick-fil-A remains a dominant force within its specific niche. When the ACSI breaks down results by segment, Chick-fil-A continues to lead the chicken category, outperforming rivals such as KFC and Raising Cane’s. This consistent performance is supported by other industry data, including a 2025 study by Intouch Insight and QSR Magazine, which recorded a 98% satisfaction rate for Chick-fil-A in the drive-thru category, citing high marks for friendliness, order accuracy, and overall service.
Industry experts suggest that these new rankings reflect a highly competitive market where even minor fluctuations in scores can shuffle the leaders. For regular customers, the data indicates that Chick-fil-A continues to provide a high-quality experience, even as competitors gain ground by focusing on the value and variety that modern diners demand.
