Turkish defence company Baykar announced on Wednesday that two attack drones launched from a Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) successfully struck their targets during a flight test in northwestern Türkiye.

Taking off from the Kesan Flight Training and Test Center in Edirne province, the TB2 carried 16 first-person-view (FPV) drones developed by Skydagger. During the test flight, the main UCAV released two of the smaller aircraft over the target zone.

Following the release, the TB2 functioned as an airborne communications relay. Remote operators utilized the relay link to guide the smaller drones into their targets. FPV drones provide operators with real-time video feed from an onboard camera, offering a pilot’s-eye perspective during flight.

The test demonstrates a new strike capability for the TB2, an aircraft that originally joined the Turkish Armed Forces in 2014 and received its first armament integration in 2015. Beyond carrying out reconnaissance and surveillance missions, the platform features an onboard laser target designator and can carry up to four guided munitions, such as Roketsan’s MAM-L and MAM-C.

According to Baykar, the global TB2 fleet surpassed 1 million cumulative flight hours in 2024, marking ten years of operational deployment. The company has secured export deals with 36 countries for the TB2 and 16 countries for its larger Akinci combat drone, reaching 39 total client nations across both hardware programs.

Baykar recorded a record high export volume of $2.2 billion in 2025, with international sales generating roughly 90 percent of the firm’s total revenue in recent years.
