Secondary school students across France continue to organize daily, maintaining a wave of mobilization that has frequently taken the form of peaceful blockades. Despite the largely non-violent nature of these actions, the movement remains marked by memories of several earlier, more violent incidents.

As security forces prepare for another scheduled day of protests on Saturday, 17 October, the government has issued a stern warning regarding the direction of the demonstrations. Government spokesperson Maud Bregeon stated, "The President of the Republic stressed that young people are expressing legitimate anxieties, but that these anxieties are being exploited politically and turned into urban violence, with scenes that are unacceptable."

Official figures indicate that since the protests began, more than 6,800 people have been taken into police custody, with 86% of those detained identified as minors. During this same period, the police regulator, the IGPN, has launched 36 separate investigations.

In a bid to address the grievances of the students, the government recently announced several initiatives, most notably the deployment of 3,000 substitute teachers to selected schools. However, these measures have been met with skepticism, as many students continue to view the government's response as insufficient to resolve the underlying issues.
