Pilots based in France and employed by the Spanish low-cost airline Volotea have officially filed a strike notice, marking another addition to a busy period of industrial action across the country this autumn. The planned walkout is scheduled to last for three days, running from Friday, September 4th, through Sunday, September 6th, inclusive.
The joint strike notice was filed by three labor unions: the Syndicat national des pilotes de ligne (SNPL), l’Union des navigants de l’aviation civile (UNAC), and the Syndicat des pilotes de ligne (SPL). According to these organizations, the decision to strike follows a lack of significant progress during recent pay negotiations with the airline management.
The industrial action is specifically restricted to Volotea flights departing from or arriving at French airports. While the airline maintains a significant presence in France, operating both domestic and international routes from hubs such as Bordeaux, Brest, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Strasbourg, and Toulouse, the actual impact on travel schedules remains uncertain. The extent of potential flight disruptions will depend directly on the level of participation in the strike among the pilot workforce.
