Travelers planning to visit the Camino de Santiago during the 2027 Holy Year will soon have an additional budget-friendly transport option. A new airline, Fly2Galicia, has announced plans to launch direct flights from Santiago–Rosalía de Castro Airport to eight European destinations, with operations commencing on December 1, 2026.

The new carrier's route network will include domestic flights to Alicante, Granada, and Zaragoza. International service will connect the Galician capital to Brussels, Prague, Munich, Venice, and Milan. Although Fly2Galicia is the brand behind the service, the initial flights will be operated by an unnamed third-party European airline.

This expansion follows an announcement by Wizz Air, which plans to launch its own flights to Santiago from Rome and Warsaw this December. Wizz Air is also set to establish a permanent base at the airport in February, introducing further domestic routes to Malaga, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and Zaragoza.

Santiago de Compostela, known for its UNESCO-listed Old Town, features a diverse range of architectural styles, including Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, and Neoclassicist. Visitors to the city can explore the Mercado de Abastos food market for fresh seafood and produce, often accompanied by the region’s signature Albariño white wine. Beyond the capital, the region offers access to cities such as A Coruña and Vigo, as well as the Rías Baixas area, which is celebrated for its beaches and islands.
