Princess Eugenie has announced the name of her first daughter, Adelaide Elizabeth Annina, following the child's birth earlier this month. The infant, who weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces (3 kilograms), was born on August 3 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the princess wrote, "Two weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world. And since then we’ve had the most special, cosy and love-filled time." The newborn is the third child for Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, joining two older brothers, 5-year-old August and 3-year-old Ernest.

Princess Eugenie is the younger daughter of the former Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and is a niece of King Charles III. According to the announcement, the name Adelaide Elizabeth Annina was chosen to honor three individuals the couple “love and admire past and present.” The name Elizabeth pays tribute to Eugenie's late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, while the selection of Adelaide reflects both her English and Portuguese roots. The name Adelaide was also inspired by Queen Adelaide, who was married to King William IV, as well as Maria Adelaide of Portugal. Annina was chosen to honor a close friend.
