New York Jets running back Breece Hall left practice on Monday, August 17, after sustaining an injury during a red zone drill. According to reports, Hall went down untouched while running after making a catch. Initially, he appeared to be favoring his midsection near the groin area.

Following the incident, Hall was able to stand and walk off the field with the assistance of the team's training staff. He was subsequently taken to the blue medical tent for further examination. ESPN's Rich Cimini reported that Hall received treatment for an issue in his upper right leg area. The team later confirmed that the 25-year-old running back had suffered a groin injury.

Addressing reporters after the session, Aaron Glenn provided an update on the status of the star player, stating that Hall had strained his groin and expressing his belief that the injury is minor. Hall is entering the 2026 season as a cornerstone of the Jets' offensive strategy, having signed a three-year, $43.5 million contract extension during the offseason. His performance in 2025 marked his first 1,000-yard rushing season, and he has maintained an average of 1,453 scrimmage yards over the past three years.

Should Hall require time to recover, the Jets' depth chart identifies Braelon Allen as the primary backup. Allen, a 2024 fourth-round draft pick, has appeared in 21 games over two seasons, recording 410 yards and three touchdowns on 110 carries. Although his previous season was limited to four games due to an MCL injury, he showed promise in the 2026 preseason opener with a team-high 44 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Depth chart alternatives also include Davis, another 2024 draft pick, who has recorded 410 yards and two touchdowns on 73 carries, boasting a 5.6 yards per carry average.
