Trent Rockets secured their first-ever Women's Hundred title with an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Sunrisers Leeds at Lord's, chasing down a modest target of 92 with 46 balls to spare. The Rockets entered the final on the back of a six-match winning streak and maintained their absolute dominance to lift the trophy in style.
A rapid 69-run opening partnership off just 40 deliveries between Sophia Dunkley and Beth Mooney effectively ended any hopes of a Sunrisers fightback. Dunkley led the charge with a bruising 41 off 23 balls, featuring a six over wide long-on off Kate Cross and another off Jess Jonassen. Mooney supported with 31, surviving an early inside-edge off Cassidy McCarthy that narrowly missed her stumps, as well as a mid-pitch run-out scare. Although Dunkley eventually holed out to short cover and Nat Sciver-Brunt was trapped lbw by Annabel Sutherland for four, Rockets captain Ashleigh Gardner sealed the win by driving fellow Australian Jess Jonassen through the covers for the winning boundary.
The foundation of the victory was laid in the first innings by the Rockets' bowlers, who dismantled the Sunrisers batting lineup for just 91 runs. The Sunrisers suffered three distinct collapses during their innings: losing three wickets for seven runs in nine balls, four wickets for six runs in 12 balls, and their final three wickets for nine runs in 15 balls. The wickets were shared evenly, with Kim Garth (2-18), Samantha Bates (2-17), Charley Phillips (2-12), and Georgia Adams (2-9) all striking twice.
Georgia Adams, playing in her fifth Hundred final out of six editions, proved to be the game-breaker for the Rockets. In addition to her excellent bowling spell, Adams produced two moments of brilliance in the field. First, she anticipated a ramp shot from the dangerous Phoebe Litchfield, shifting finer at short third to take a sharp catch off Phillips' bowling. Later, she executed a full-length diving stop at cover and threw accurately to Georgia Elwiss to run out Jonassen for a duck.
The match featured five of the 11 Australian players who had won the T20 World Cup at the same venue last month. Litchfield had threatened to make a significant impact early on, hitting a four and a six off Bates to race to 10 off three balls. However, Garth quickly turned the tide by removing Bryony Smith for seven, caught by Sciver-Brunt, before getting Lauren Winfield-Hill—on her 36th birthday—to loop a catch to backward point off a delivery with extra bounce.
Following Litchfield's departure for 10, which left the Sunrisers at 26 for 3 at the end of the powerplay, Deepti Sharma was bowled by Phillips for 12 after deflecting a full-length delivery onto her own stumps. Adams then claimed the crucial wicket of Annabel Sutherland, who had top-scored with 25 from 23 balls, getting her stumped by a wide margin with a loopy offbreak. Adams followed up by bowling Kate Cross off an inside edge.
The late resistance from the Sunrisers was minimal. Darcy Carter fell for a duck, playing all over her first ball from Bates. Sunrisers captain Dani Gibson struck four boundaries, including three in a row, before being caught at point by Garth off the bowling of Gardner to wrap up the innings and set up the Rockets' historic triumph.
