Juventus remains in search of a new goalkeeper after Tottenham Hotspur turned down an offer to sign Guglielmo Vicario on loan. According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the London club refused to entertain the specific terms requested by the Bianconeri, which involved a loan deal without an obligation to purchase the Italy international.
While the 2025 Europa League winner remains a potential target, a deal for Vicario is only considered possible if Tottenham significantly alters its stance regarding the structure of the transfer. With that path currently blocked, Juventus has shifted its focus back to a familiar alternative: Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez.
Martínez has re-emerged as a viable candidate for the Italian side as Aston Villa moves closer to securing Zion Suzuki from Parma, following the collapse of the goalkeeper's proposed transfer to PSG. While Aston Villa is currently seeking a €10m fee for the World Cup winner, Juventus has submitted an initial offer of €7m supplemented by €3m in performance-related bonuses. Officials Carnevali and Massara, who are operating under strict financial constraints, view the gap between the two valuations as bridgeable and are aiming to finalize the negotiations within 48 hours.
Despite the progress in discussions, there is some caution regarding the Argentine goalkeeper's physical condition. Martínez reportedly played through a finger injury during the World Cup, a condition that may eventually require surgical intervention.
