The United States military has officially announced the commencement of new strikes against Iran. According to officials, this military action is a direct response to Iranian attacks targeting three commercial vessels that were navigating through the Strait of Hormuz.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that the primary objective of these strikes is to impose significant costs on those responsible for targeting and attacking commercial shipping crews consisting of innocent civilians in an international waterway. In a statement released on its X account, CENTCOM characterized Iran’s recent aggression as dangerous, unwarranted, and a clear violation of the established ceasefire.
While the specific targets of the US military operation remain officially unconfirmed, reports from Iranian media indicate that multiple explosions were heard in the southern region of Iran. These military maneuvers occur during the 60-day ceasefire period, which was formally outlined in the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding signed by both nations just last month.
