Two Israeli soldiers were killed and four others sustained injuries following the detonation of an explosive device in southern Lebanon, according to the Israeli military and local media reports. The incident took place on Wednesday in the town of Majdal Zoun, located within the Tyre district.
The Israeli army officially confirmed the casualties in a statement released following the blast. This explosion occurred against the backdrop of ongoing diplomatic efforts, as representatives from Israel and Lebanon participate in a seventh round of US-mediated talks in Rome. These three-day negotiations, which are scheduled to conclude on Thursday, are focused on establishing a ceasefire agreement, addressing the potential withdrawal of Israeli forces from southern Lebanon, and resolving other critical outstanding matters.
Despite the active discussions regarding a ceasefire, the region continues to experience military activity. Data provided by Lebanon’s Health Ministry indicates that since March 2, Israeli attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least 4,333 people, with an additional 12,250 individuals reported injured.
