A fatal mid-air collision involving two helicopters occurred on Tuesday as the aircraft were attempting to land at the Pheriche helipad in Nepal's Solukhumbu district. The incident, which took place in the country's Everest region, involved a Fishtail Air helicopter and an Air Dynasty helicopter.

According to local authorities, a foreign tourist who was a passenger on the Fishtail Air helicopter was killed on the spot. A pilot involved in the collision also sustained injuries and has been transported to a hospital for treatment. Nabin Raja Budhathoki, who is in charge of the Solukhumbu District Police, confirmed the casualty and the injury to reporters, though he provided no further details regarding the circumstances of the crash.

The two small helicopters reportedly collided while approaching a snowy landing site. In Nepal, such aircraft are frequently utilized for the transportation of tourists, climbers, and essential supplies, as well as for conducting emergency medical evacuations. The region's challenging mountainous terrain and rapidly changing weather conditions often contribute to hazardous aviation operations. Nepal, which contains eight of the world's 14 highest peaks, including Mount Everest, remains a major destination for thousands of international trekkers and climbers annually.
