A violent incident occurred on Saturday near the Salsa on St Clair festival in Toronto, leaving two individuals dead and four others suffering from gunshot wounds. The shooting took place in the vicinity of St Clair Avenue West and Arlington Avenue, where the popular Latino-themed cultural event was being held.

Toronto police initially reported that five people had been struck by gunfire, but later updated the figure to six victims. There has been no immediate update regarding the medical condition of the four surviving victims. While officers initially requested that the public avoid the area to facilitate their response, authorities later confirmed that the scene had been secured. However, police cautioned that the suspect or suspects involved remain at large.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford addressed the tragedy on social media, stating, “I am devastated by the senseless violence at the Salsa on St Clair Festival that has claimed two lives and injured others. My thoughts are with the victims, their families and everyone affected.”

A significant police presence remained on-site following the event. Although Toronto is widely recognized as one of the safest major cities in North America, this incident has drawn attention due to the rarity of fatal shootings involving multiple victims in public spaces.
