Saudi Arabia is actively working to implement the mechanisms outlined in the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement, according to Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman. The minister emphasized that this commitment is aimed at fostering greater regional integration and advancing long-term security and stability.
Prince Khalid shared the update on Monday via social media platform X, following his leadership of the Saudi delegation during the inaugural Meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee. He noted that the committee affirmed its dedication to activating the pathways established by the agreement to ensure the pact’s objectives are met effectively.
The Strategic Political and Defence Committee was formed specifically to provide strategic direction for the implementation of the defence deal. Türkiye is currently hosting this first meeting, which gathers foreign ministers, defence ministers, and chiefs of general staff from the three signatory nations: Türkiye, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia.
The Mecca Joint Defence Agreement was officially signed on August 7 in Mecca. The pact was formalized by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
