Marshall Manning, the son of Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, reached a new milestone in his young football career during the Baylor School’s season-opening game against Brentwood Academy. The contest, which was broadcast on ESPN2, saw the younger Manning enter the game midway through the second quarter.

Serving as the team's backup quarterback, Manning took the field to replace Ole Miss commit Keegan Croucher. Rather than opting for a conservative running play, the Baylor coaching staff allowed Manning to pass the ball during his first varsity appearance. He successfully rolled to his right and launched a pass over the outstretched arms of a Brentwood Academy linebacker, connecting with junior receiver Antwaun Adams for a first down.

Following the completion, Baylor shifted back to a running play on the subsequent snap, and Croucher returned to the field to finish the drive. Manning, who transferred to the Chattanooga-based Baylor School from Denver before his eighth-grade year, continues to provide depth at the quarterback position for the team this season.
