French President Emmanuel Macron led a ceremony on Sunday to unveil a new statue dedicated to Captain Alfred Dreyfus. The 19th-century military officer was famously the victim of a wrongful treason conviction, a historical case that exposed deep-seated anti-Jewish prejudices within French society.

During the inauguration event, the President addressed the modern-day implications of this history. Macron issued a stern warning regarding the resurgence of what he described as the “demons of antisemitism,” noting that these sentiments have historically cast a shadow over France and continue to pose a threat in the present day. He emphasized that the nation must maintain “constant vigilance” to combat such bias.
