French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced on Monday that Paris will summon the Russian ambassador in the coming days in response to a widespread cyber attack campaign targeting European nations, including France. The minister confirmed that France intends to impose sanctions on nine individuals and four entities identified as being responsible for the operation, which he stated was orchestrated by the FSB security service.

According to Barrot, these cyber attacks have targeted a range of sectors, including government ministries, private companies, and critical service operators. The primary objectives of these campaigns were either to capture sensitive information or to sabotage essential operations. As an example of the latter, the minister noted the impact on rail infrastructure in Poland, though he did not provide further specific details regarding the incidents.

Barrot maintained that France has successfully detected these malicious activities. He emphasized that the government has taken significant steps to bolster its national defenses against such cyber threats to ensure better protection against future incursions.
