Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House next Tuesday, according to a White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The meeting comes as part of renewed, high-level efforts to conclude the four-year war between Ukraine and Russia, which have faced delays as Washington has increasingly turned its attention toward the conflict with Iran.
Zelenskyy recently confirmed that he has been in communication with Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, as well as the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to help revive stalled negotiations regarding the war. The relationship between the two leaders has been characterized by volatility, moving from a heated confrontation in the Oval Office in February 2025 to a warmer dynamic in recent months.
As part of these shifting diplomatic ties, Zelenskyy met this week with prominent conservative commentator and Trump ally Laura Loomer. Loomer, who has millions of social media followers, expressed a change in her perspective regarding the region, stating, "This is everyday for every Ukrainian, I feel like such an a**hole for minimizing the struggle of Ukrainians for the last five years." Following the meeting, Trump reposted one of Loomer's social media updates about the encounter with the caption: "Very good!!"
The upcoming visit to Washington coincides with a memorial service for the late US Senator Lindsey Graham, a long-standing advocate for Ukraine who passed away earlier this month at the age of 71. Additionally, President Trump is expected to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the same day as his meeting with the Ukrainian leader.
The 33-year-old conservative commentator, who has millions of social media followers, has recently softened her stance on Ukraine.
