A Turkish parliamentary delegation recently concluded a series of what were described as "constructive and solution-oriented" meetings with high-ranking US lawmakers in Washington. The discussions, which were part of an official visit coordinated by the Turkish Embassy, centered on critical topics including defence cooperation, NATO relations, counterterrorism efforts, the F-35 fighter jet programme, and the status of CAATSA sanctions.

Hulusi Akar, who serves as the chairman of the Turkish Parliament's National Defence Committee, confirmed on Thursday that the delegation met with several key figures. These included House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rick Crawford, House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, NATO Parliamentary Assembly Defence and Security Committee Chairman Mike Turner, and House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast. According to Akar, the delegation utilized these meetings to articulate Türkiye's official positions on national security and the defence industry.

In a separate development, Akar addressed ongoing legislative efforts within the Turkish Parliament's defence committee aimed at increasing support for military veterans and the families of fallen soldiers. To prepare this legislation, the committee conducted 28 meetings with various institutions, veterans, and affected families. Akar dismissed allegations that the proposed bill would cause divisions among veterans, emphasizing that the committee is committed to ensuring equal treatment for all.
